The aim of the PhD is to train high-level experts who, thanks to the broad technical-scientific and methodological skills acquired, are able to lead in firsthand the development of innovation in advanced productive sectors, in public and private research bodies and to aspire to senior positions in public administration as well as in industrial enterprises.
In addition, the training project aims to encourage the entrepreneurial activity of doctoral students who would achieve during their research activity results with a high degree of innovation also using academic spin-offs.
The professional figures corresponding to the training characteristics of the doctoral program are those of the production manager, R&D manager, maintenance manager, expert in the development of new materials, expert in structure control, and manager of territorial and technical services for public administration.
Industrial Engineering Curriculum: The industrial engineering curriculum is strongly focused on advancing knowledge of new technologies aimed at industrial innovation and product and process development with particular emphasis on the challenges posed by the Industry 4.0 paradigm and enabling technologies. The professional figure to be trained has professional skills and abilities capable of leading research groups operating in the public or private sector as well as holding positions of high professionalism in technology-intensive production sectors such as manufacturing companies, the processing, mechanical engineering, research organizations, private or public design companies, etc.
Information Engineering Curriculum: The demand for specialized, and continuously updated personnel, in modern ICT technologies is a direct consequence of the rapid evolution of technology, which, among other things, is increasingly available at low cost, with this leading to a market entry of economic and industrial realities of even medium and small size. The professional figure to be trained is particularly in demand and coveted by companies operating in industry, electronics, information technology, embedded and distributed systems and the entire manufacturing sector, engineering companies and the technical sectors of public administration.
Civil Engineering and Architecture Curriculum: The professional figure to be trained will be characterized will have expertise in the main themes of Civil Engineering framed in a vision in which technological innovation, together with the transformation of digital processes are aimed at environmental sustainability and resilience of the works and the environment on which they insist and, therefore, finds a place in various fields, academic, private, and territorial entities such as Civil Defense, Basin and Port Authorities, Services Provincial Soil Defense, the National and Regional Agencies for the Protection Environment, State Technical Services, research organizations, design companies private or public, etc.
